Frank Casale is the founder and CEO of the Outsourcing Institute, based in New York. When news of the Brasil Maior program broke, IT Decisions called Frank to ask for his views on what this government package – including potential payroll tax cuts – could mean for the international IT industry in Brazil.
Here is a selection of quotes from Frank, based on our discussion with him:
- “Overall the Brasil Maior plan is exciting and timely news. look at the trajectory that Brazil is on with major events such as the Olympic games taking place in Rio. This is a great thing at a great time.”
- “I think that there will be some short-term effects for the service providers who are pro-active and know what to do with this.”
- “One of the real challenges for the buyers in the USA is just gaining awareness and familiarity with Brazil. Some marketing and education is needed so that the buyers have more information.”
- “Ambitious individual players should be promoting this news to potential clients in the US. Perhaps getting more aggressive and reintroducing themselves to former potential clients.”
- “The key is to leverage this into company and government marketing campaigns, reestablish discussions that may have fallen apart, I know about several opportunities where Brazilian companies lost out because of pricing.”
- “Whatever the government can do to get the word out through media channels, they should do so, because this sends a great message to the global marketplace.”
